'89 window issues

Sorry for another post so soon since my last.

I have another issue I'm trying to work out on my '89 Taurus. ATM none of the windows work. When I try using the driver side controls you can hear the motor in all 4 doors, but none of them actusomewhere? None of the other 3 work either using their own switches, but again can hear the motors. Is it possible I have a short sonewhere? What are the odds that all 4 windows are off track at the same time? Again, haven't had the car very long so I'm not positive of when the last time they worked.

One reason I ask about a short, I use to have a '98 Buick. It's window switch somehow lost ground. I tied into its ground wire and ran a 2nd ground and they started working. Just wanted to see if I could get some other suggestions before I start tearing into the doors, lol.

Thanks for reading!

...Definitely

...Doubtful

Use your multimeter and test for ≈ 12 VOLTS.
ohms doesn't tell u if wire can carry the 12v load.

Do door locks and interior lights work? If not, check wiring in black canister.
Black canister between driver's door & body; Unscrew to open [many turns of the bolt in top] - look for shorted wire - very common
Pull the drivers door panel, disconnect motor, jump ≈ 12v to it, reverse polarity to change direction.
Driver's door window controller - use schematic to test

Corrosion is more likely than short, if it's still working any at all. Driver's switch module seems most likely, as all doors run through it..

Yes sir, lights and locks do indeed work. Just the windows.

I've thought about replacing the driver side switches. The replacement isn't too expensive and is easy to replace (already had it off looking for broken wires, etc)
Replaced the switch on the drivers side. Same issue. None of the windows work but can hear each one's motor when you try and use them.
before doing any more electrickery, since you don't know how long they've been sitting, I'd get in and grease the mechanisms first.
