Last night I started on removing my starter for the 89 Taurus.

I have a Haynes manual and removed the 2 bellhousing bolts, 1 bracket side bolt and the nut that holds on the terminal wire.

Everything disassembled I can't get it out, not I can't position it correctly to remove it. It seems to be held in place still somehow, it won't budge from the bell housing. I've removed quit a few starters from other vehicles but never had this problem...

Any tips or suggestions?

They can get stuck on there from age. Did you try giving it a rap with a hammer?

I figured it was just kinda seized on there. When I pulled my brass hammer out it started to down pour and the car wasn't in the garage. I'll try prying to out tonight.

Be careful! I had a stuck one that wouldn't budge once. When I took my hands off of it to get a better grip on it, it suddenly fell loose and came down and hit me in the forehead!
