It's usually in October, and I'm almost positive it will be the weekend of the 23rd. It was a great time last year, I can't wait to go this year!

Doh!

The date is October 23rd....a Saturday.

We do the usual "drinking beer" on Friday night, then catch dinner in Lapeer after the track on Saturday, then more beer on Saturday night,.

Perhaps a caravan should be arranged.
I was thinking the same thing. But will see when it gets closer.

And why when I do the quote thing of someone that had smileys in it. They don't SHOw up in the quote like yours did mine? What am I doing wrong?

I'll call ahead and reserve your Ski-Doo helmet too. Not to sound gay or anything, but yellow is your color man. :thumb: :D

I'm going to this for sure. Don't know if I'll be racing, (depending on whether or not I have brakes by then) and this time my car will have even MORE PRIMER than it did before!

Serious I'll tell my boss tomorrow not to schedule me Oct 23.

EDIT Also is this annual? I coulda sworn it happen twice a year

It's a spring-fall event. Last year was Oct. 24, the day before our anniversary. We're going again this year, and also going to Gingerman on Oct. 22nd.

Here's a copy of what I posted to the SHO lists:

+++++

Well, we are doing it again this Fall! The date is Saturday October 23rd at
Lapeer Dragway:

http://www.lapeerdragway.com/

We do these events in the Spring (usually early May) and the Fall (usually
October).

Saturdays are Test-N-Tune at Lapeer, and for $25 you can get a LOT of runs
in ($10 for spectators/non-drivers). Please note that a helmet is required for
all cars running. Any helmet will do, and they also rent helmets at the track for $5.

It will be our "usual" routine of a gathering at Big Buck Brewery in Auburn
Hills on Friday night (http://www.bigbuck.com/), the track on Saturday, then
dinner in Lapeer on Saturday after the track. Then, back to Big Buck to hear all of
the lame excuses!

If anyone needs hotel info, email me, but there are a lot of hotels near Big
Buck in Auburn Hills on Opdyke, like Motel 6, Holiday Inn Express, Marriott
Courtyard (walking distance to Big Buck). WRT Big Buck Brewery,
the Marriott Courtyard is right next door, and Eck, Hurder, Doucette stayed
there last time (and most likely this time, also). The Fairfield Inn is next

door to the Marriott. The cheapest is the Motel 6. I would recommend at
least getting a hotel for Saturday night (if you don't join the Friday festivities) as
Saturday is a long day.

Across the intersection of University Drive/Opdyke (close to Big Buck, but
need to drive to them) are the Motel 6, Holiday Inn Select, Hampton Inn,
Comfort Inn, Candlewood Suites, Amerisuites, and a few others.

All of these hotels are in Auburn Hills, MI, and most likely have Opdyke
Road addresses. They are right at Exit 79 on I-75 (University Drive exit).
Go west on University, and Opdyke is the first light.

I will also post this to the various SHO lists, but any car is welcome!

In other posts, Don Mallinson (SHO Club) and Bob Gervais (TCCA) have set up
a Track Day at Gingerman in South Haven, MI. Folks can run Gingerman, then it
is a 3-hour drive to the hotels in Auburn Hills for the Lapeer Day on Saturday.

Sort of a "Mini Convention" in the Fall!

+++++

Since this went out , Bob has had to back out of Gingerman and Lapeer. The Gingerman event is still a go, so there will be folks headed over to Auburn Hills on Friday night after the Gingerman track day on Friday.

It's looking like we should have a pretty strong turnout!

Mark Hlady is coming in with his 426 HP-to-the-wheels Marauder (his '99 SHO replacement), as well as a bunch of folks doing the Gingerman day on Friday. Plus, I'll have the new Subie turbo out there to give the nitrous guys a run for the money!!
