I am getting a set of 17x7 42 offset rims...

i checked tire rack for tire prices and they recommend 225 50 17" ....

would i be able to uyse 225 45 17" .. it sounds like it wouldnt be a problem .. just a smaller profile ... i am stock heigh but i plan to drop my 97 sho later on so the 45 series might be a better bet

please let me know if there is a problem running the 45 series tires with these rims or if you recommend another tire size...

thanx

If you change the circumfrence of the wheel your speedometer wont be accurate anymore. Stay as close to the circumfrence of the stock wheel as you can. So new rim diameter plus tire hight times pie should be as close as possible to stock.

i am not really concerned if imy speedo is off by a few mph which at best would be the result of using the lower profile tire.. i just want to know if that tire will work and especially since i have plans of lowering it with an eibach kit faiirly soon

thanx

The lower profile (and resulting smaller diameter) will mean the speedometer indicates your going faster than you really are. No big deal, unless you try to outguess it. That could be a problem.

The other thing might be worthy of your consideration-- reduced gas mileage. That's why I won't go to a smaller diameter tire.
