My first post, so if it's in the wrong place, please move accoringly, thanks.
I have a 2014 Taurus Limited and the drivers side outer tailight LED does not light completely. (See picture)
I only see 2 bulbs in there that look to be for reverse and turn signal. Is the LED fixable or do I need to just buy another taillight to replace it?

Try some easy things first. Clean the contacts of the bulb & socket with electrical cleaner. Wiggle the wires at the connector to see if the light momentarily come on. Sometimes a bulb has 2 filaments, maybe only one burned out. The bulbs are few bucks, the taillight lens is about $70 at Rock Auto

^^^^^ The lights in question are LEDs and can not be replaced! No sockets, etc.... they are soldered to a circuit board. LEDs themselves are a VERY rare failure, but "cold" solder joints (often due to vibration) on the LED circuit board are somewhat common. IF you can get the tail light apart, and have decent soldering skills, you can reflow the solder joints on the LED circuit board and see if they will light up.

Or, go to the local junkyard and get a "new" tail light.

I have yet to completely remove the tailight, but will inspect it tomorrow. Can't say I have much soldering practice, so I might just look at a new one if I dont see an obvious flaw. Thank you both for the quick response. So glad I found this site!

The issue is likely moisture intrusion causing corrosion on the circuit board, a broken solder point, or burnt out LEDs. I’ve seen some LEDs fail but it’s more likely one of the other two issues listed. In that case, because of difficulty of service, you’re better off replacing with a new unit.

Ended up buying a new used tail light. Put it in place today and all is well. Thanks for all the input. Really appreciated!
