Hi!, on and off for about the last moth or so, when I put my car in reverse, I get a pop-up saying "camera is unavailable, please contact your dealership. But other times, the camera works just fine.. Does anyone have a solution for this, or know what might be causing this issue? My car has about 140,000 miles on it but is in great condition. I just am trying to avoid buying a replacement because the cheapest camera I could find is $303.00. Thanks in advance!

99% sure your camera needs to be replaced. It's apparently common in 2013 models. I just replaced mine a week or so ago for the same issue. It's now working perfectly and has a much clearer/sharper picture. Easy to swap out too, just pull the pin tabs out of the top and center of the trunk liner, pull back the liner, unplug the camera, unscrew with torx T25, swap cameras and put back together.

I opted for a new camera, but you can easily save $100 or so if you pull one out of a newer salvage vehicle (car-part.com).

I’m having the exact same problem which started happening on my 2013 SEL at roughly 60k miles. Haven’t found a solution yet, but this is the first place that I’ve looked.

I'm having the same issue on my 2014 Limited. 100,000 miles. When the camera is on its perfect picture , just get that message every once in a while. I've checked (car-parts.com) for a camera and requested a quote twice and neither have ever responded. Is there a certain way to do that I might not be doing right?

I am having the same problem with my 2015 Limited (just passed 90K). Camera works just fine sometimes, other times its "unavailable", Dealership says the camera needs to be replaced which seems odd to me as I would think an electronic device is either working or dead, no "sometimes". Anyway, the dealership wants $747.88 to replace the camera. They gotta be kiddin me! Lots of "How To Replace Ford Camera" videos on YouTube, but none specifically for the Taurus. Also, I've learned that Mustang, Explorer, Edge, Fusion, Taurus do not share the same camera. Does anyone know the correct OEM part# for the Taurus?

Definitely don't do the $747 deal, thats insane. Mine was intermittent, about once a week it'd have a bad day. Then it got worse. I thought it might be loose wiring since it was intermittent, but rather than tear the car apart, I found a camera on carparts com for only $95. It was from a 2017 Taurus, and so far in 2 weeks it hasn't failed once. To access, you have to remove the trunk lid liner, unplug the one socket, remove one screw and the camera slides right out. And I believe since it was from another Taurus, I still had the guide lines and the backup "beep", so no reprogramming was necessary.
Several parts sites list the part#'s as
original: DG1Z-19G490-A rpl part: EG1Z19G490A but if you can get one from another Taurus you shouldn't have to worry about it.

Thank you so much for that info! I'll open up and clean that wiring harness to see if that works. If not, I'll start searching for a replacement on my own. Like you said, it looks to be an easy switch out. And I wont be forgetting that dealership service dude who must have thought I was "Sucker For A Day" .
