54,000 Miles. I've had it since 50K. I don't know if it's been flushed before.

Car Drives fine. No Coolant leaks. No overheating problems. Coolant looks, okay, from what I can see(i.e i've seen the rusty Taurus coolant video on youtube, mine does NOT look like that.)

Dealer wants $100 for the coolant flush.

1) What concerns should I have about the procedure the dealer uses? What kind of questions should I ask?
2) Assuming this is the 1st flush for the vehicle, should the thermostat be replaced?

I was from the mindset, if it ain't broke don't fix it, until my old ford escort gave up on me. Now I want to do as much preventative maintenance as possible. But with something as important as the coolant, i wanted to get your guys opinions, I really value it. Thanks.

Not all that hard to do at home if you are at all handy.

Unfortunately, I can't really work on my car in my new apartment complex. If it's a safe procedure to do(unlike mechanical transmission flush), and they do it right, i don't mind paying $100 for it. I just want to avoid adding new issues to a car that is issue free.

it is safe, no harm will come. I and others have done it themselves many times. If you are unsure of its age, it is worth the 100 $ to not have to worry about it for 50 K.

$100 is pretty standard. All depends on what your time is worth to you. I'd personally rather the dealer do it to avoid the giant mess, but that's just me. Regardless of how you do it, you want to do it regularly. Every 30k/2 years is a good milestone from what I've read. It keeps your expensive to replace gaskets healthy and your heater core free of debris.
