My 2005 taurus SE 3.0 litre runs very rough at the initial starts, at about 300 rpm's during the first 5 to 10 seconds after the car has sat over night. After about 10 seconds, the engine will run fine at a normal idle speed. It used to just do this when the temperature outside was below 20 degrees, but now it does it every morning.

I put new plugs and air filter in, but no change. Any idea's?

I just gave this car to my 17 yr old daughter and I'm concerned now. It has 70k miles.

Inspect and if necessary clean or replace the Idle Air Control valve. A lot of black crud builds up in the valve body. You can use carb cleaner and maybe some swabs.
