Hey guys:

I have an '05 Taurus SE. About a month ago a woman turned across in front of me and I hit her a "solid glancing" blow down the right side of my car.

It got the fender and door pretty hard and also caused some suspension damage. The lower control arm is bent, the swaybar connector is broken and the tierod snapped.

The tie-rod breaking actually happened after the fact. I was moving the car out of the way of another here at home and it let go.

My question is this: Obviously I'll have to replace the tierod, but I'm unsure how that goes, being that it is part of the rack. I do all my own work but that's something I've never had to do yet.Would I be better off replacing the rack itself?

Thanks for any advice...

Hello...here is the link to the "Topic Finder"...which is at the top of the page...when you get to the page...scroll down to the "Suspension" section...there is some info there.

Yes, there is "some info", but not specific to my task at hand.

I guess I'll have to buy a shop manual off ebay if no-one wants to tell me how to remove inner tie-rods from the rack.
