My mothers Taurus seems to be accelerating on its own from 35mph up to about 41mph with the throttle not applied. The IAC and TPS has been replaced, and a working MAF and throttle body were each temporarily installed from a running vehicle. If the IAC is disconnected electrically the problem goes away but it throws a code and the car stalls out when it stops. So to fix the stalling issue I installed an IAC bypass plate (Ford p/n F2PZ-9F939-A) and adjusted it to provide the minimal air needed for the engine to idle. Now I am left with the ability to drive the vehicle correctly, but with a check engine light illuminated, because the IAC is unplugged.
Does anyone know what would be causing my IAC to give so much throttle while driving that it causes the vehicle to accelerate and not slow down when the accelerator pedal is released?
