I just got a 2002 Taurus SEL with the 24V DOHC engine. It has been a champ so far, but recently started running REALLY hot. The check coolant light is on, but after browsing here, that seems to be a common problem with the coolant sensor. The coolant level is pretty high, but the engine runs HOT and starts smoking after a couple miles. I'm not a car expert, but is there a couple simple things I could check before taking it into the shop? I saw something about the water pump belt going out on this type of engine, is that a possibility? Any other ideas? Thanks all!
