180xxx miles on it. Just recently started to "jump" on occasion. Then the transaxle light came on. Parked it on a Tuesday after this happened and Thursday went to start the car and it does the putt putt. I don't think I have ever had a car run that rough in limp mode. So now it's a yard ornament for the time being.

Also, I live way out in the country. It will be a min of 100$ just to tow it into town to get it looked at. I can do the work myself I just need an idea on where to start.

Transmission was rebuilt right before I bought it.

Transaxle light on means there are codes stored in the PCM. Get the code or codes read and report back with the exact code or codes present.

Does the speedometer run or stay at zero? VSS will do this, I never get a code only on one ocassion did it throw a code, the wires to the VSS were melted together. The other times the VSS was bad, easy to check it with a cordless drill. Symptoms are late upshifts, high rpm and then hard up shifts.
