2001 Taurus sat for 7 months, it now has no power.
Starts ans runs smooth, no surging, no pinging, just poor acceleration and no top end, no unusual noises.
On the highway it downshifts to maintain speed.
I replaced the synchronize, spark plugs, air and fuel filters. No change, There are no logged or active codes.
The new synchronize is a Dorman, after reading negative reports about the Dorman product, I reinstalled the original part. No change
Since this was my wifes car, I am not sure if the problem existed before.

Sounds like a plugged CAT or dirty MAF.

It may have a bit of intake roar. (not exhausting properly) not too sure. How do I determine which CAT is plugged?

hard to tell which one is plugged but that is usually the symptom when there is one plugged.

Runs great but has no power above say, 3000 RPM.

a dirty MAF is usually more noticable as it will cause irratic power problems.

Um do you have a vulcan from the future or something? 155 horses in 3400lb car IS slow. Not to mention the crappy automatic.
His must have come stock with the NOS stickers.
