It does look like the one from a 2000 AX4S. I did not take a picture of it when I had it out, so I can only go by memory. Here's a pic of where it's mounted on the top of tranny.

Did you have to use your old gear on the new vss? The vss ive changed out on older ax4s came gearless. Not so on the ax4n.

There's no gear on this type of VSS. It gets pulses from the parking cogs. It's just a cylinder with a coil of wire and magnetic core inside.
