I replaced it last night(whatta bitch) and upon pulling the ends off the core I found approx. 2.5 lbs. of rust scale in both tanks and the core was completely shut except for the last 3 top rows... Needless to say after listening to 10+ opinions from various repair shops about blown head gasket in engine, I use logic to guide me in determining that the "blown gasket" was in actuality a clogged radiator.. compression testing showed GREAT compression across the entire scope of cylinders.. Water flow was crap..Drivers side of radiator was red hot and pass. side was cold to touch..
Is it just me or is the majority of repair shops filled with idiots?
After turning wrenches for 30+ years, I just took a bit of my own time to look for myself and the answer was screaming at me from every angle..
I am disappointed in the state that repair shops have gotten to..

Yeah, it's sad. Best way to check that is with a non-contact infra-red thermometer. Just scan it side to side, top to bottom. Should be cooler near lower rad hose, but gradual decrease from side to side. Hot spots and cold spots are dead ringers for clogs.

Sounds like yours had a lot of electrolysis going on.
