Hi All, I just purchased a 2000 Sable LS with the Duratec V6. It had set about 6 months after its elderly owner passed away. I have a perplexing problem. The car misses pretty bad at idle. It smooths out above 2000 rpm. Also the cat converter under the rear bank glows cherry red after a min or two running. The only code is KAM voltage low. I have replaced a coil pack and traded the others around with no effect. I need advice. No garage around here will work on it. They said it would be a pain to troubleshoot and they did not want to fool with it. The Ford dealer wants $82.50 per hour to try to diagnose it. I cant afford that. Please help!!

Maybe a cat that is clogged, i hear about these more and more. because if only 1 of them is glowing cherry red. Plugs and wires are good? if the coil is new then there should be very few things to check.

I think the converter getting hot is a symptom not the problem. Anyone have any ideas about the keep alive memory voltage low trouble code?
