Standard Vulcan engine. 3.0 EFI V6

Was driving home last week and engine starting sputtering. Made it home.
After re-starting, idle was extremely high. After reading some notes here, I replaced the IAC (Autozone $50) and that fixed the idle issue.

However, now, the engine still runs rough. Seems especially so if I try to speed up quickly. I also started the car, put it in drive, and pressed the brake and then put the AC/HEAT on. Engine began to idle very poorly.. did not stall, but shook like it could have. Turning off AC/HEAT returned idle to semi normal. When driving, on the highway it appears the engine runs fine after getting up to speed.

Autozone codes were P0316 and P0301. Any assistance is appreciated!

Thanks!
Brian

Well, I replaced the plugs yesterday, in the dark. That was fun. ;-)
Anyway, test drove this morning and it appears the coughing is gone.
Good acceleration, etc. Used Bosch platinum plus plugs from Autozone (2.99 each).

The engine light is still on. Does this mean there still is a problem? Or do I need to reset it somehow? Autozone won't do it anymore. Tell me its agan' the law.

Thanks!

Ok. Wish I'd known that before. They were out of autolite's at AutoZ. Not sure about the other.

What is the 'bull'? Is that a section of the plug?

I will disconnect the neg. and see where that gets me.

Lol, no, bull is just a common slang term for taurus. Sorry. You might be ok with the bosches, some are, but alot on here have experienced problems (misfires, etc.). Yes, neg. batt. disconnect for a few minutes should clear the code(s). Should remain gone unless problem isnt fixed.

:D
30 minute test drive this evening. All is well. Nice acceleration and no choking. The 'Bull' is back to normal (for now, she does have 139xxx).

Thanks for all the help!

+1 on not using Bosch plugs... Never had luck with them in any Ford I've owned! (stick with Motorcraft - pretty cheap and work good!)
