Why don't they have 0-60 times on 1/4 mi timeslips? That's dumb.
When I get home tonight I'll dig out my slips and punch some numbers into that calculator. Thanks for the link Joe.

That's because they only have timing beams and preset distances. To give you a 0-60 time they'd need a radar gun or a whole bunch more beams.

Okay I don't have a gtech time hell but im not claiming anything outlandish, my old vulcan did 0-60 in about 17 seconds. ( I think there might bave been something wrong with it. )
no way man. give yourself a little credit here. 12 maybe 13 would be ok, but 17? I think the old 2.5 4-bangers did it in 15. or maybe something was seriously wrong with it?? who knows? hey, if you had a bumpin system, you dont need to be goin fast, u gotta creep in that beeotch!

Im not sure, but I did it pretty in accurately, I used the clock on my cars dash, and pushed reset the same time i pushed the gas and no word of a lie i could not get below 16 or 17. remove about 2 seconds for response time and ur still left with 15. There could have been something significant wrong with it. Im not sure. They engine did die though, after running it out of coolant, driving for 150 kms, replaceing headgaskets etc. lol

The only mods I have are removed intake silencer, k&n panel, and put a flowmaster muffler in to replace the stock one. When I made that run, the weight reduction was just getting rid of sub box, spare tire and all the misc stuff I was hauling around (cooler, bags, etc.) I was running on fresh Valvoline Full Synthetic oil. Right now *knocks on wood* the car seems to be running better than ever, so with a few more mods I am hoping to hit maybe mid 16s 1/4 times. That run for the 1/8th had a 16.9s 1/4 time.

amen to that bro! I'm on that same bandwagon. I'm hoping after a summer of mods to be somewhere in the high 15's. Yes, high hopes indeed, but i can be done! woot! keep up the great work J.

My Explorer runs an 8 second flat 0-60, and there is no way the Vulcan will hang with the Explo. The Vulcan is about as fast as our old Buick, which was 9.1 seconds.

Vulcan's are pokey accelerators, especially in 2nd gear. Mid-range is a disaster.

we'll see
I got slips proving that 1/8th time I posted. Of course, I'm hoping to improve it.
Vulcans aren't that bad.

Ok, everyone from here on out has to AT LEAST have a GTECH time. Timing it by counting or stopwatch is very inaccurate, to say the least. And for anyone claiming anything lower than 8.5 sec's, you really should have some power mods (not just a cai) and some actual proof.
W3rd.
We tested my friend's 0-60 on his 96' Sable Vulcan with both a gtech and a stopwatch and got 10.5 gtech, 10.2 stopwatch. I've watched a couple videos on here of people w/Vulcans taping their speedoes going 0-60, and it usually runs between 10-11 seconds (by counting the seconds on the time elapsed at the bottom). my aunt has a Gen 4 Vulcan that she rented (she's here to visit) and after borrowing a buddy's gtech, we averaged mid 9's.

So where are we getting so many 8's from?
I'm not calling anyone a liar, but last time I checked, cold air, a chip, and maybe some exhaust work doesn't chop seconds off our 0-60's. [/b][/quote]
the same for me i got 10.9 0- 60 .... after 50000 miles the time got 12.8 and 13.98 0-60..... so i did mode it and i got a 0-60 of between 9.12 and 9.78..... what the hell is happening...
