What ever happened to the BMW? And did elmo (sometimes known as omle) ever die? Oh the nights in the chatroom. Good times. Good times.
  2. Tcca History

    Club News & Announcements
Holy hell! My login still works! Man, I haven't been on these forums for... oh... six years? I think I stopped by after my freshman year in college (three years ago) to write up some massive thing about turbos, then kinda went away. I owned my last taurus in '02, it got crashed into and...
  3. New Laptop

    Odds and Ends
You'll love your mac, trust me. I've got the 15" PowerBook, and it's just awesome. I'm fairly certain that your computer shipped with X11... if it wasn't preinstalled, it's on the Panther disc that came with your laptop. What are you using X11 for? I've got to run MATLAB, so that's what I've...
  4. Engine Coolant?

    Maintenance and Repair
Just out of curiosity, what coolant did you use? Green stuff, or reddish/orange? As for flushing... for my lil' Prizm, it's suggested you drain and change the coolant every 30k, and flush if necessary. Check your owners manual and see what Ford suggests.
  5. Gonna Be Gone A While...

    Odds and Ends
Hey, don't knock the PowerBooks, especially the G3 series. The "Pismo" and "Walstreet" are pretty indestructable. If you don't have it already, see if you can find a copy of OS X 10.3 (aka Panther). Macs are great, I've got myself a 15" PB aluminum, and it just rocks.
  6. If General George Patton

    Odds and Ends
Amen. Now if only he had said something about getting rid of half of the government that doesn't do a damn thing, or five agencies that do the same job. That would rock.
  7. Jeb Bush Stumped By Geometry Question

    Odds and Ends
For when I do use a calculator, it's pretty useless, yeah, but hey, memorizing that stuff is good for those back of the envelope calculations.
  8. Jeb Bush Stumped By Geometry Question

    Odds and Ends
 [/b] Ah, I see your misunderstanding here. For calc, we use radian measure. Ya know, pi, pi/3, pi/2, pi/4, pi/6, etc... The values of those trig functions turn out to be really nice (sine of pi = 0, of pi/2 = 1, pi/4 = root2/2, etc...). That I have to memorize, but not ALL of the...
  9. Turbo Thriller - 536hp Aps Tuned 2004 Ford Falcon

    Odds and Ends
I just think that there's no reason to it being here if there was no plan to bring it over. Each global division of Ford has it's own proving grounds, so why send it to Romeo? Plus, the Falcon would continue Ford's "F" name fetish...
  10. Jeb Bush Stumped By Geometry Question

    Odds and Ends
Nah, I'm not expected to know my trig tables for calc at all. I work on a project over at Cornell that requires lots of fabricating, so I'm using triangles a lot. That's where trig comes in handy. Truth be told, I memorized the parts of the trig table one day because I was bored, had nothing...
  11. Turbo Thriller - 536hp Aps Tuned 2004 Ford Falcon

    Odds and Ends
Well, it just wouldn't make sense to test a left hand drive car in the states for a right hand application in Australia, now wouldn't it?
  12. Turbo Thriller - 536hp Aps Tuned 2004 Ford Falcon

    Odds and Ends
I may or may not recall seeing something at MPG which had those headlights and that was all decked out in camo. Something to watch out for over here stateside perhaps. *wink*
  13. Jeb Bush Stumped By Geometry Question

    Odds and Ends
19, going into my sophmore year in ECE/MechE. And no, I didn't memorize my trig or log tables (only parts because I was tired of looking 'em up), and wasn't forced to memorize the first 100 digits of pi (long story). I'm fairly certain that the students were allowed to use a calculator on the...
  14. Cheapest Way To Get Air Tool Setup?

    Maintenance and Repair
Well, I'll give you my 2 cents. An impact gun is used to take off nuts and bolts without twisting whatever you're taking it off of. It sounds hard to comprehend, so I'll give you an example. Normally when you're removing the nut from your drive axle, you'll spin the axle unless you've got the...
  15. Jeb Bush Stumped By Geometry Question

    Odds and Ends
Well, I guess they were testing to see if kids knew how to find angles in a triangle, basically testing trig and such. I think it's fair game for an exam... you don't know your trig, you're screwed. Plus, if I was those kiddies, I wouldn't complain. Easy question to get correct. For...
  16. *duw* Let Me Know What You Guys Want Pics Of

    Engine and Drivetrain
Hey DMX- with that torque converter picture... I'm a bit curious. That "minishaft" slides right into the torque converter, but is the shaft itself mostly hollow? Are there interior splines in that small shaft? Is that how the torque converter mates up with the engine?
  17. Make The TCCA More Official

    Site Feedback and Forum Issues
Long before most of you were members, before this new, new forum existed, we old-timers had a similar debate. You guys have come up to the same conclusion that was reached back then-- fees are not the way to go. The only difference between what's happening now and what happened back then is...
  18. Mozilla Firefox

    Odds and Ends
Safari 1.2.2 with PithHelmet for me, and I'm lovin' it. Very fast, tabs, no popups and no ads whatsoever (as in no banner ads, flash ads, all ads are gone). Mozilla rocks for you x86 folk.
  19. Project Cold Air Intake Complete

    Engine and Drivetrain
Well, I'm not sure about breathers and leaning out... it's not my area of knowledge. I do know this, though- running lean for too long is very, very bad, especially if you tend to drive aggressively. You can toast your rings, or exhaust valve seals among other things. We have an engine in our...
