I personally can’t stand Toyota’s. Lexus on the other hand is a different story. You mentioned the infotainment being terrible. Isn’t the rav4 the same though? I’ve always tried to figure out why people buy Toyota’s...
  2. Ford once again says goodbye to the Taurus

    Taurus and Sable General Discussion
Honestly. I like my Fusion a lot. I don’t understand why they don’t sell. The facts are they don’t. Therefore Ford shouldn’t sell them.... end of story. It’s a business and they need to make money!

Well an update for you few people following. Sorry it took me so long! Short version: I bought the car back and fixed it. The roof is still damaged but everything else is fixed. The car is now plastidipped balloon white. Long version: Insurance gave me $32500 for the car, I paid them $10,600...
  5. A/C Compressor and High speed fan always on.

    Maintenance and Repair
Thats plain strange. With no refrigerant in there theres no way it should be commanding on. The low pressure should tell it to not kick on. There could be something causing the clutch to be clamped on. I guess the PCM is commanding the relay to close 100% of the time? The relay isn't stuck...

To be fair, I only get 30mpg under certain circumstances. With the 3.73 gears I really am about 27mpg average at 70mph and only 23mpg at 80mph... It goes down FAST. Of course if I do mostly city driving I'm hard pressed to keep it above 20. Technically its rated at 15/25mpg BUT the performance...

First update in a while.... Few new mods... Plenty of planned mods... Went to the dragstrip....got my tint. New tires... Burnouts... :P - Tint I ended up going with 35 front 20 rear. I like the way it turned out. I'm tempted to do 50% on my windshield because A. It looks great and B. Its REALLY...
  8. Tire sizes

5th-6th Gen Aesthetics, Interior, Wheels, Tires
You won't have issues changing sizes that little. Whats your current size and whats your reasoning for changing from the stock size? My mustang will run 315/35/20's in the back when the stock size is 275/40/19. No rubbing. Most cars can take a decent amount of tire size change.
  9. Rock Auto has terrible math skills, ripped me off when refunding a cancelled part

FYI if you call them and tell them it was miscategorized they will usually pay the return shipping. You still loose your original shipping sadly.
  10. 2008 transmission mount replacement

5th and 6th Gen Maintenance and Repair
I did this on mine it was a pain... Not awful just kind of annoying since you have to move a bunch of stuff out of the way. Mine was SO badly shot when I replaced it. I'd recommend replacing the top mount on the other side too. That one is likely the next to go bad.
  11. bpd1151's MASSIVE audio build (in progress, 01/17).....

5th-6th Gen Electronics, Security, Audio, Visual
I have to +1 on the swapping to 6.5's. Speakers just don't work well as an oval. I never understood why anyone ever decided that was a good idea... I mean physics of sound. Luckily the Sony system on the 2013+ is all round speakers. Also congrats on hitting 1000 posts BPD.. Well at this point...
  12. Car won't start, clicking under hood

    Maintenance and Repair
If you have a meter that can measure current, remove the negative from the battery post and connect it in series from your meter. See how much current draw there is with the car off, doors closed and locked. Just be really careful because if you open that door you could blow the fuse in the...
  13. Car won't start, clicking under hood

    Maintenance and Repair
If its really cold out I could see that. Otherwise thats too high. If its warm a voltage that high could easily cause the battery to rupture if it stays up there for long enough.
  14. Car won't start, clicking under hood

    Maintenance and Repair
I doubt it is the alternator.... Easy an inexpensive to do on the vulcan but I'd avoid doing that unless you're sure its bad. You can have that tested at some parts stores if you remove it. Check the voltage while the engine is running. If 13-15v your alternator is likely just fine. If it's...

I'm going to do 35/15 I think. Getting it done tomorrow. In other news, its making its first dealer appearance on Wednesday. For anyone in the St. Louis area, Lou Fuze Ford in Chesterfield is fantastic. Talk to Brian in service. Radiator fan sounds like it has a bad bearing. It squeaks pretty...

I'm a firm believe in ESP. I also firmly think no one should get any other extended warranty but ESP. Get enhanced rental ($40 more TOTAL on the ESP plan) and they pay for a $60/day car through enterprise. Just be SURE to reserve something before you bring it in for service. You can also switch...

So... Got plates today. The state didn't make me pay sales tax. I'm betting I get a bill in the mail with my title but we'll see. If not thats about $2500 that can go towards other things! I may pick up a set of 4 Pilot Super Sports used for $500. 7-8/32 left and my OEM size with a 5 smaller...

Decided to mozy on through this thread. I love the new Explorers. They're great looking. On the warranty things.... Here's my list: On my 08 Sable I had the Ford Premiumcare extended warranty and boy did it get its use. They spent roughly $4500 fixing that car between 73000-109000 miles... It...
  19. 2008 taurus suspension problems

5th and 6th Gen Suspension, Handling and Brakes
Just an odd failure. Usually even when they get old and cracked they don't make noise unless they are completely gone. Are you sure they replaced the strut mounts when they did the front? The rear strut mounts are so hard to replace so those likely aren't replaced if those struts were replaced...
  20. Rough idle and loss of power

    Maintenance and Repair
I generally like spraying carb cleaner around and watching the fuel trims or listening for the idle to change. Smoke test only works well on gross leaks. Though you may have a gross leak. Just use any vacuum hose that will distribute smoke into the entire manifold/intake tubing.
