  1. HELP! I need a belt!

    Maintenance and Repair
I'd have to say it made my engine more responsive. Freed up from the dragging mess. I'm running on 87 because of the gas prices and it ran darn good. I'm going on 91 and see how it'll do. :chili: by the way, I didn't have to pull the compressor.
  2. HELP! I need a belt!

    Maintenance and Repair
Was no easy job. Got the belt yesterday and can't get the belt to stay on the crank pulley. Had to use zip ties to keep it on the pulley but it worked. I have a tensioner pulley tool that use the open end crowfoot but the darn bolt chipped and made the tool useless. The really screwed the job...
  3. HELP! I need a belt!

    Maintenance and Repair
If you remember I said my AC compressor was not turning so well that it burned the belt. I quit using it and replaced the belt. I pulled the AC relay so I can use the fans, not much use really. Now The compressor pulley froze up and burned the belt again. I need a belt that will not be on the...

  6. Interesting event

    Taurus and Sable General Discussion
I was driving and when I wanted to get in a heavy traveled road I had to goose my car and get in between cars. I hit over 5000 rpms in doing so. It's very seldom I do that. What I found interesting was that my engine had a growl to it and was real responsive with power behind it. It ran better...
  7. At the gas pumps...

    Taurus and Sable General Discussion
Couple of days ago I was nearly out of gas so I went to get $20 of gas. The pump I'm at has a choice of 87-91-93 octane buttons. I was pressing the 87 button and it wouldn't response so I kept jabbing at it and the pump suddenly came on. I was pumping the gas in my car when I noticed that the...

  10. Now what? Loose wheel

    Maintenance and Repair
Get this. I priced at Autozone for the inner tie rod end for $46. I looked up on Amazon and I can get a 6 piece set for $39. 100% positive review. Thank you Amazon and Prime membership. Now I can RnR both sides complete. By the way, how big a wrench will I need?
  11. Now what? Loose wheel

    Maintenance and Repair
No it's not the axle. Just that I wasn't familiar with rack and pinion steering system. I'm familiar with the tie rods and ends though.
  12. Now what? Loose wheel

    Maintenance and Repair
Is this the rack and pinion steering? The rod moved with the wheel, not the joints. I need to have a better look. I'll know more later. Ok, I found a video and from what I can see it has an inner joint and an outer joint. My problem will most likely be the inner joint. What do you call this...
  13. Now what? Loose wheel

    Maintenance and Repair
Today it warmed up enough that I can change the oil in my bull. I jacked it up on the driver side and stand it on the frame. The wheel is barely off the ground but when I grabbed the tire to brace myself to get up the wheel moved. I just did an RnR on the cam position sensor and this time I...
  14. Squealing noise from engine

    Maintenance and Repair
Yeah, my engine sounded really smooth so I guess I'm ok.
  15. Squealing noise from engine

    Maintenance and Repair
What I did was match the position of the old one to the new unit. I could be off a few degrees. I wondered if that was critical.
  16. Squealing noise from engine

    Maintenance and Repair
    LOL, thanks. :)
  17. Squealing noise from engine

    Maintenance and Repair
Forgot to mention that the old unit still feels tight but has a squeak when I turn it by hand. I've read that the reddish stuff is material from the bushings.
  18. Squealing noise from engine

    Maintenance and Repair
The new one looks good so I used it. I had a hard time with the hold down bolt. It kept cross threading on me (so it seems) but it felt like it started finally and I wrenched till it got tight. The washer was still loose. I pulled it out and it looked ok so I tried again. Same thing so I got...
  19. Squealing noise from engine

    Maintenance and Repair
    Not chewed up just rusty.
  20. Squealing noise from engine

    Maintenance and Repair
Ok, I got stuff out of the way so I can pull the unit out but I gotta line it up first. Right now I need to know how to pull the plug off the sensor. I tried squeezing this and that but it won't budge. Instead of forcing something I thought I'd ask. How do you it?
