I have been living with a random misfire for nearly two years now on one of my 2001s. I recently bought a new car as my long distance car and most likely will get rid of my 2001. The car was totaled nearly three years ago and I replaced the door and fender. Between rotted floors which I patched, misfire and the salvage title I figure the car is really worth between $200 to $400. I was wondering how long does it take to remove the rear cylinder head? Whats the cost for gaskets and head bolts. What options would you suggest it the head has a crack or bad valve seat. It only misfires on #3 cylinder. Really not seeing major coolant usage and only misfires during the first few minutes on cold start up. Set an P0303 and only flashes the CEL very infrequently.

I am trying to figure it I should ride it till it dies, use a bottle of head gasket fix or pull the head. I really don't need the car anymore. It would be great to get it through the winter

I took a few pictures of my 2006 voltage regulator that I am re brushing. I posted them to my old thread on the alternator wear. You have two like this.

I pulled one off at the junkyard it was pretty easy. I do the same with my two. Within reason I put the new parts on the 06 and swap the 06 parts onto the 03. I just did that with ignition coil. I bought the good OTC tool for aligning the cam synchonizer and that makes it much easier. Wires would be easier with the UIM off for sure. I am curious how well oven cleaner will work on the UIM. You should post up some photos.

Have you ever pulled the UIM off one of your cars? My 2001 is starting to chirp, Cam Sync, so I was going to pull the one from my 2006 and replace it with a new one. The old one goes to the 2001. The 2006 has 145K on it. It is my long distance car and the 2001 is my wife's around town car. The 2001 had it replaced at 50k and it is now going at 136K. It was installed by a dealer in Florida while we were on vacation. $600.

So I'm thinking new in the 2006 but also the UIM is really crudded up so I thinking of pulling it and using oven cleaner around the PCV inlet and the EGR. Also new wires since it will be all open.

I used the impact on mine. The one came out hard all the way out. It would have been a royal pain with a ratchet. The other sided was not so bad. My 03 was back east the first half of its life so it has more rust then what I am used to for a car here. Kinda of a bummer but the price was right at the auction for the hail damage. Now if I can just whip the gremlins in it.

Thanks for listing the part number for the bolts and U-bolts for the fuel tank straps. I am replacing the pump today and mine are rounded off and badly rusted. I ordered them today and pick them up tomorrow. Now I just need to figure hoe to get them out. Got very thing I can possible need to get them out just got to figure which way.
