Yup, just as the title states.... fortunately no fines yet. The 3L Contour didn't have a front plate or mount when I bought it, but it seems lately that Troopers and Sheriffs have been cracking down on this. It's just another reason to pull you over and try to catch you doing something wrong. In a car like the 3L Contour, cops don't need many excuses. So off to the salvage yard to find a front license plate mount. <_<

Luke,

The front bumper cover I bought from you didn't have a mount or holes for a plate either, and I don't plan on making them. I've gotten by with a plate in the windshield for a while, but I've heard of people getting fix-it tickets for that.

yeah, I had the front plate in the windshield once and was told that it's a no-no... attached to the bumper only.

Let me tell you about plates in the windshield..................

I had an old '71GMC P/U, with the front plate in the front window.
One day as I was sitting at a stop light, I got rearended by this old dude in a CV. Well, the damn plate went mid-air on my ass and damn near took my head off!!!! I know thats probably a rare instance, but it scared the hell outta me!! I would rather tell the cop/officer that the damn thing was probably stolen.

I was always afraid of the license plate taking my head off... that's why I always kept on the passenger side... let them worry about it

Well, I guess if you're gonna "run dirty" you had better be prepared for the outcome. It happened today, coming from CiCi's pizza. Me Mark and Russell, in my Escort. I was stopped at a light, and sitting across from us was HPD, I took off and he swung around after me. The ONLY thing he could have possibly gotten me for was that damn missing plate!!!! I have good tags, we were all wearing our belts, I obviously was NOT speeding. In the six years I've owned this car, it's NOT ever had a front plate. I guess I'll have to try and find it tomorrow, and get a couple of frames, 1 for the Escort and 1 for the bull. It sucks balls to have to do this, but I sure don't need the hassel of being pulled over.

As for the bumper you bought from Luke, if you look real close, there are OR SHOULD BE 2 very small indentations on the front where the plate frame mounts to the bumper. I used to have to mount them when I worked at Ford. Even though it may "look" like **** to you, it IS required now, so, might want to at least think about it.
