I'm new here so not sure if this has been asked but I have a 2006 Taurus with a seized engine. Can I swap the drive train from a 2004 into my 2006? Any issues with computers/emissions controls? I would imagine mechanically it would be the same.
As long as the engine (3.0L Vulcan) is the same between the two vehicles, then I don't see a problem. The 2004 -2007 model years remained mostly unchanged, so there should be no major changes that would prevent you from swapping from a 2004 MY.
Thanks. I have a 2004 that I'm replacing the transmission in, 2-2005s. one crunched in the left front the other was vandalized. and a 2006 which has a bad engine and was hit in the right front. I keep buying parts cars but they aren't bad enough to throw away. I may buy another one as a parts car to fix the rest. Not trying to make money, just like working on them.
