Just how hard is it to remove the trans valve body cover on a 2001 OHV. I believe my cover has a rust pin hole and maybe leaking. I have another 2001 that will hit the salvage yard this month and wondering is it easy to swap the covers. Or is it easier to hit a pull a part place to get a used one. I only have garage space for one car to work on until my boat gets stored for the winter. Or maybe I will braze up the hole, paint and reinstall it. This 2001 has about two more years of life at most due to rust.
You will have to drop the cradle slightly + on drivers side and remove trans mount bracket. Its a tight squeeze but you will be able to wiggle it out. Pulling the D.S. axle can give you more room if necessary.
Thanks for the info. Never had the subframe bolts out on this car. Seem to remember not being able to get those mount bracket bolts out either when I did the trans mount. Hard to get impact in there.
I need to pull the wheel well cover and get a better look. Car has 121k miles but body rot is starting to limit it's life.
