Thumbs down Overdrive problems!!!! HELP PLEASE

Hey guys i have a 1997 Taurus SE with a v6 Engine and its automatic. The car has a CEL for the catalytic converter . The problem is with my overdrive car runs fine in drive if i put in overdrive ill drive for about 2 minutes and the car will just stall in the middle of the street but if im in the highway and i switch to overdrive the car drives fine at high speeds???? so whats the deal with overdrive not working at low speeds? tranny fluid is full i checked it. could the BAD CAT be doing that ?? makes no sense help me out guys

A plugged cat can cause stalling for sure. Usually it will run rough, and act sluggish too.

Yes, the cat can be the cause as there is more back pressure in D as opposed to OD. Replace the cat and the exhaust should flow fine.

Sooner, not later. Very hard on engine and valves to let this persist.
