How to remove Timing Cover Seal?

2006 with Vulcan
I'm replacing the timing cover gasket. Removed the harmonic balancer and read somewhere, or saw on YouTube to remove the seal while timing cover is still bolted in place. I almost pulled the car off the jack stands! using my seal remover (pictured). The seal won't budge.
Any advice would be much appreciated.

Remove seal after you take the cover off the car. Never had issue with five I did that way and one was a 2006

Thanks for the help.
Timing cover is off. Have not removed the seal yet. I will post some comments when I'm finished the job
