1999 Taurus flashing Check Engine light

Hi.
My Taurus has been acting up lately.
It has been driven a lot more recently.
Coming home from work last night, I had no power. I barely made it to 60.
It was a tough 18 miles on an 80 MPH freeway.
I got off at my exit, it started bucking & barely moving.
That's when the check engine light started flashing.
The engine temp started to rise also, it made it up to 210 degrees.
Oil, tranny & coolant fluids were checked, all good.
Could this be a fuel delivery issue?
The fuel pump & filter were replaced last fall by Ford.
I am at a loss here as to what's going on.

A thought, have you checked battery voltage. Sounds very similar to my grandson's 500 when the alternator died and he ran it until it would go no more.

You may have a catalytic convertor plugging up. Read the codes and report back.

Hi, I did drive it again, the flashing Check Engine light started right away.
It did kick out codes this time.
P0303, P0304, & P0305
It is a misfire issue.
BTW, it has only 67K miles on it.

Best to stop driving it, an active misfire can kill the cats right quick. IIRC, in '99 the Tec still had a coil pack, start there

It's SHO time!

Motorcraft or Borg-Warner (BWD) coil pack recommended. Iirc, BWD available at Advance Auto and/or O'Reilly Auto.

Blinking light is a bad misfire and likely from a bad coil. Don't drive it in current condition or you will definitely destroy the cats and have a really big dollar cost repair. What is currently a ten minute $70 job will turn into a $600 plus job.

I ordered an Accel Super Coil replacement pack.
BWD was out of stock at both places.
I have had good luck with Accel in the past.
It was cheaper than the Motorcraft version.

There is a reason why people suggest Motorcraft or BWD, myself included. I have not had any experience with an Accel coil in the 22 years of driving, but cheaper coils are usually cheaper in quality too. Hopefully you won't have any issues, and didn't clog a cat. How long have you been driving with the misfire?

Oh well,
I replaced the coil pack.
At least is starts now.
Something else is wrong now.
I am sending it to Ford for repair.
I am done working on this!
