Taurus Power steering pump

Hey all. I have 2007 Taurus with a steering pump that's pretty much gone, surprised still working. Have a friend that has a 2000 sable which they are going to junk and asked if needed any parts. Wondering if the the power steering pumps are interchangeable and worth putting used one in or better off getting a new one?

If you have a 2007, you have the vulcan engine.

The 24V duratec was not available after 2005.

Is his 2000 sable a vulcan or duratec engine? Pretty sure the pumps would be different.

Thanks and not too sure about the sable, friend at a concert so can't ask tonight. But everyone talked to is pretty much leaning towards not going to work, was just hoping to save a bit of money. Not that a new pump is horribly expensive.

Ask your friend with the Sable what engine code his is. If it's the 3.0 OHV then it's the Vulcan that was referenced to earlier (and yours) and it more then likely will fit. If it's the 3.0 DOHC then that's the Duratec and won't fit your application

If your friend knows it is an OHV then it will fit. If they are unsure just have them look at the VIN on the registration, if the 8th digit is not an S then you are good to go.

Make sure you dont have a small air leak somewhere in the system before replacing the pump. See if the reservoir will hold vacuum.
