Question ERG? or DPFE? causing high RPMs

Hello all!

A month ago, I was getting a squealing around 3400-4000 RPM accompanied by a slow leak from the tranny pan. I just fixed the leak in my pan by using a non-hardening Permatex and the problem remains.

I'm getting the same squeal around 3400 RPM+. Did some reading/researching and wanted to run by a couple ideas for a differential diagnosis by more seasoned minds.

My thoughts...

1) some crap get into the tranny fluid?
2) ERG valve?
3) DPFE sensor?
4) dirty spark plugs misfiring?

For a full confession, I haven't replaced my PCV or my spark plugs at the recommended times per the manual. I'm @ 112K and it runs well under 3000 RPM, just have to accelerate a little slower. Will still get to high speeds (85+), problem only comes when RPMs are in that range.

Do you know how old the cam synchro is? They like to make noise when they are going bad. Do NOT use a dorman replacement if you pull out the synchro and it's bad. Buy a Motorcraft one.

I'm not sure whether my elderly great-aunt had it serviced or not. I going to assume it's the original part.

Will do on the Motorcraft parts. Only way to go.

Just watched a video on replacing the cam syncro.

To help others out and for clarification, might try to snap a video of the problem since it happens consistently.

Id have a video or atleast a write up if I had a Vulcan. There may be a write up on the forum. Just make sure your part is bad. The synchro having play is a dead give away of it being bad.

What the heck was going on in the last data frame? TPS is way low, MAF is high, coolant temp is 21F, timing is 36 ATDC, fuel trims are way high, and vehicle speed is 155 MPH?! Was the car actually running when that last one was recorded or is that some kind of scan tool glitch? The frame number is way different and the time is negative so that's why I hope it's a scan tool glitch.

Other than that I don't see anything wrong. PCM is using the timing advance to keep the engine idle a bit high while the engine warms up.
