Cooling fan & Stumble

1989 merc sable 3.0l
Hi guys first time poster, in need of help big time im trying to fix my moms car and thought i was done with it.
when the car is cold it runs fine, when it starts to warm up the radiator fan will come on and the car will stumble. some times it will even die???
Cleaned battery terminals yesterday and still does it what is strange is i have a toggle switch for the cooling fan and when its cold i can turn on the cooling fan and it doesnt stumble???
P.S. coil is new and plugs are new

This sounds strange. Maybe someone with more experience will chime in. I'm not certain the fan is the issue here, but maybe just another sign of the real problem. Something is happening when the car gets hot, which also happens to trigger the fan to turn on. The starting of an electric fan shouldn't cause a car to die. I think there is something esle happening there.
