The OBD2 cars don't like having the cats gutted, or removed (off-road Y-pipes). They tend to throw a P0420 (catalyst efficiency) code. However, there are products known as MIL
eliminators that will correct that issue. Also, any HP gained would be at the top end, at the expense of low-end torque. My $.02, FWIW.
