Pic of performance of 3.8. Note: torque is high but falls quickly over 2500 and engine is out of breath by 4K rpm. Add a high slip tranny that downshifts and runs the rpm up to where the torque is done. It downshifts and feels like nothing is happening.
I have had 4. Two Lin Cont, two Sables. Both Sables ,'92 & '95 blew head gaskets. My mother had one and it blew head gaskets before 50K.
Also had 3 rear wheel drive Essex but that throttle body injection was weak but lasted forever.


My take.

That chart looks about right for a 3.8. But still faster then the 3.0
