Pleasant Surprise, Nasty Smell...

I have taken two long trips in the highway in the new-to-me 2012 SEL AWD. Got 28.1 MPG at 65-70MPH. That was as high as 30MPG at one point around 60 on cruise.

That awful odor coming from the fresh air intake is still there. No one has been able to cure it. i have brought the ideas and observations from the Forum to two repair shops and they just dont know what to do.

But, boy that fuel mileage has been a pleasant surprise. $4.00/gal. regular coming soon....

OK, next thing posters will put their worst nightmare filter pics here.

I'll skip that one.

I did have to take a dead mouse out of my daughter's '98 Taurus inside plenum. Dads have to do things for daughters. I have not forgotton that.

The evaporator is known for grounding nasty stuff on it from the condensation and some times needs to be cleaned. They sell foaming spray to kill the crud. I have removed the blower and foamed it from there. It then drains out the condensate drain

I think my cat does it because she's trying to feed us, as if to say "You give me food, here is my return favor. Eat.. you look hungry"

She brought in TWO small bunny rabbits the other day. Both still alive and unharmed.

Easiest way to sure a bad small in your car's vents is to put some pour some baby powder into the vents. A clean funnel will help immensely in this step. Then with the off, turn the vent blower setting to high and let the powder settle into the ductwork overnight. In the morning, start the car and your car will smell as fresh as a baby.

I guarantee your car will smell fresher. No lie.

You can take the blower off easily and vacuum out the area. The windshiled vent just pops off and you can vacuum out them also. I did that for glass shards in my vents. I used compressed air down the defroster vents and shop vacuum. I removed the dash outlets and did the same for them. U should find something.

And removed the seats and used a leaf blower on it.
