If they are projector housing led wont be as good as a halogen bulb in them. Projectors do very well with hid bulbs(innovited hid kit works well) and if your running reflectors then led would be fine(always been a fan of the BPS Lighting)

Unfortunately, if your Taurus has factory installed halogen bulbs, that's what the headlights are best optimized for. Finding bulbs that are LED or HID which match the factory halogen beam pattern are something that you can install, but I guarantee it won't make any more light output given that the factory projector is not built for anything but halogen. The only true upgrade to your headlights is splitting them apart and slapping in some better projectors, LED or HID, and pairing the correct bulbs with them for dramatically better light output.

This is one of those situations where the chain is only as strong as it's weakest link.
