multifunction switch replacement frustrations

Original problem: Wipers don't shut off when switch is in off position. Intermittent wiper with wipers off about every 15 seconds or so.

Here is what I have done so far:

Ordered BWD 16 Terminal Multi Function Switch: BWD | Part # S16479 from O’reilly, which specifically says it fits the 15 Taurus Limited. It fit and all of switch components worked; EXCEPT it didn’t have the white lever on it that holds the turn signal on. So, the turn signal would have to be held into place in order to continue to signal. I couldn’t for the life of me figure out how that lever would come out of the old part and go into the new part.

Searched the internet and found a suggestion that F150 MFS would work. Ordered the Motorcraft combination switch Part # SW7917 from O’reilly but the bracket on that part doesn’t fit the Taurus, so that one didn’t work.

No one at O’reilly or Advance can find any other part in their searches. My local junk yard doesn’t have the part. Haven’t gone to the dealer for the part yet, but again, the computers all show that the original part I ordered IS the part. Is there another part that someone knows of? Is there a way to remove the white lever from the old part and attach it to the new one? weirdly enough, the part says that this is for “rain-sensing wipers,” but the part doesn’t have a setting for rain-sensing wipers like my Infiniti does, and according to the sticker, my Taurus doesn’t have rain-sensing wipers...nor have I ever seen them act like rain-sensing wipers.

My logic: The original part did fix the intermittent wiper, so I am fairly convinced it is the switch...I just need the part with the white lever somehow.

Help! I don’t want to spend 450 bucks to solve this problem by getting repair from dealer if I can help it.

Any help would be much appreciated.

It sounds like you need the OEM part number for the wiper/turn signal stalk?
If so, the part number should be FG1Z-13K359-AB

I think this is the one exactly! I just ordered it. It looks exactly like the motorcraft 7032, but it has that extra part on on the edge. The picture of this part matches the one on my car including the little white lever so we will give it a shot and I will report.

Thanks!!

To me, the part ordered was defective. The white lever is the cancel cam, and that should be on the lever.

I never actually looked into the switch itself, but I assumed it didn't have a white lever since our switch is fully electronic meaning the turn signal function isn't a mechanical operation. We can press the lever up or down for the turn signal no matter the direction of the steering wheel.

Electronic yes, but the cancelling of the turn signal still relies on the steering wheel going past a certain location, and back, to cancel the turn signal.

Thanks to all: Problem solved. Ordered the part specified by AdmiralSparklez from TascaParts. Just arrived and 10 minutes later we have success. Thanks for everyone's help. Just to clarify the issue, the white cancel arm was the problem. The other parts that we looked at didn't have that arm for some reason. TascaParts was the only place I found it.

Many thanks to everyone!!
