Most likely there is a break of the wire inside the insulation. Years of flexing work hardens copper and it cracks, causing an intermittant open in the circuit. Put tension on each wire one at a time until you find the culpret. Cut the insulation at the break and splice the wire and solder.
When the fault occurs, check to see if tapping any of the relays on the underdash fuse box, and junction box to see if that brings any function back.

Crush3r, howre things going with your car? I'm currently going through the same with my 03. It's definitely getting frustrating. So far, if I wiggle the wires under the fuse panel in the 24 pin connector it'll ding and the windows and lights will work. I don't know, I hope you had some luck with yours.
