That does sound low.

2013 (geared higher than your 2008), averaging 27.1 commuting to work, a mix of city and highway.

MPG has more to do with how you drive.

2003 Duratec. Usually in town I get 17-21 mpg. Just did a weekend roadtrip from Harrisburg PA to Roanoke and got 28 mpg. That's a combination of 70+mph at times, and some serious stop and go during thunderstorms and accidents on the way down.

What greater freedom than not knowing where you're going or why ?

I drive way too fast to worry about cholesterol.

If you know where you're going, it's travel. If you don't, it's an adventure.

All I need is coffee and mascara.

My 2013 EcoBoost averages 16.5 mostly city. I have been driving it for about 4 months. I drive conservatively. Hopefully someone can shed some light on this.

I've got a 2008. I can usually keep it around 21-22 mixed and 26-28 on the highway going around 75mph. Driving habits play a huge part of MPG in the city.

I had this feeling like the trans was dragging down my coasting speed when off throttle. I was getting ~21 MPG in very conservative driving style with A/C off (springtime in Florida).
I had Ford dealer do The Works oil change recently and noticed the dragging feeling seems gone. Further reading makes me think it maybe was a sticking caliper, corrected by the dealer, but not explained/declared to me.
My mileages has gone up to 22.5 and now running the A/C consistently (summer in Florida).
