Did you try a OBD2 scan tool or the Ford version of it, to diagnose the problem? All I know is my 2015 Taurus Limited N/A 3.6 L went through 2 batteries, in 4 years. It seems like these vehicles love to eat batteries.

If you're consuming a battery every two years, something is wrong.

My SYNC system has returned to normal but I'm having starting issues and a check engine light comes on. I didn't know that you had to keep the computer powered while you changed the battery. I wonder what I could have damaged.

Quite a few people here have stated the same thing, they are going through batteries every two years or so, too.
