Smile 2010 Taurus Sho- Fuel pump issues

I am also having this issue(P0087, causing shuddering and power cut-outs on a 2010 SHO w/140000KMs). Surprisingly, the dealership stated i was having transmission issues when i brought it in, so i am extremely hesitant to return back to them... I am currently trying to resolve this issue, all the while working 50hrs a week and commuting over 250 Kms/day. I dont want to change my HPFP if it is not the issue, but i have very little time to search what to troubleshoot and even less time to actually work on it when i get home. I borrowed a Mac Tools code reader from a mechanic i know, but knowledge of functions is limited. If any one has any experience with this or is able to list items/issues i can check or look for, the help would be very much appreciated.

**UPDATE** A friend of a friend offered a fuel pressure gauge to see if the pump was actually failing, and after i set it up and went for a cruise, when i put the "pedal to the metal" the pressure almost immediately dropped down to 5-10 psi. Im fairly sure this indicates pump failure, but let me know if im assuming too much here.

Lastly, I am looking at a new pump, possibly, my question is I have shopped around a bit and Im seeing two price ranges for pumps aprx. $350 and $700. The first is a stock one and the other totes better fuel economy. I could definitely use better fuel eco., but i dont really see how a fuel pump could have much of an effect on economy..?
Thanks all.

I think the only way a fuel pump would get you better fuel economy is if its not putting out enough fuel... I would go with stock, if the car is stock.

Unhappy

Update... After replacing the HPFP, fuel control module, pump fuse and relay, and low pressure fuel pump assembly, I have managed to get rid of the P0087 code, but during this process(and all the while commuting 250kms/day) I have now gotten two new codes. I am seeing P0455(EVAP emission system leak detected-Large Leak) and P0457(EVAP emission system leak detected-fuel cap loose/off) codes. My car has a easy fuel seal, and i have seen how to clean/lube it(trying it after work today), but the car is still shuddering and Im not even 100% sure this EVAP code is even related to my issue. I have heard that the EVAP can make it run poorly if not working, but I dont know if it could cause these kinds of issues.

If any one with the 3.5 Ecoboost (SHO or F150) has been dealing with or already has repaired a similar issue, I would greatly appreciate the help. I need to get this thing running properly again, ASAP. Thanks.

PS. I am less than familiar with automotive electrical, but if there is any simple things i can check myself to eliminate/highlight a potential problem, I am wiling to try almost anything(even contemplating bringing it back... to the stealership...)
