2011 Preventive maintenance question. 100000kms

Hello,

I have a 2011 Taurus SEL with just over 100000kms on the odometer and I want to keep this beauty for a long, long time!

What should I do in the way of preventive maintenance? Should I have the tranny fluid changed? Coolant changed and system pressure tested? Power steering fluid changed?

Do I have to have the timing belt changed? If the timing belt goes will it destroy my engine?

Please weigh in on my questions and feel free to add in any and all advice about other aspects of preventive maintenance.

Thanks in advance,

Doug

Doug, with the 3.5, I'd swap the coolant ea. 1-2 yrs. due to their h2o pump issue. Loosen/remove the tank cap to vent, open the petcock and drain. Refill with the recommended/specified 50/50 mix. You probably have a drain plug (11mm) for the tranny (no serviceable filter/no pan). Loosen/remove tranny dipstick cap to help vent, then remove the drain plug. Refill with 4-6 qts. Mercon LV atf. If you have a fluid ps pump and not elec., I'd empty the reservoir with a turkey baster and refill with atf. Do this occasionally until the fluid remains red. Iirc, you have a timing chain. I would only consider swapping it out during the course of an h2o pump replacement. May read the owners manual for specs, capacities, service intervals and scheduled/preventive maintenance.

Thank you very much Shelia.

I appreciate all of the information and I'm glad to hear that I have a timing chain!
I will follow all of your advice.

Cheers,

Doug

Yes coolant changes are VERY important in my opinion. I change mine twice a year. Spring and in winter.
