I drive older cars with high mileage(wife gets the new cars ) so I use regular dino oil with a Motorcraft filter, change 4-5K miles. No oil related failures yet.

Thank you for all the feedback friends. I see, like most products, that there is no much difference in popular brands.

Honestly, if you look through my Bull 2.0 project thread (link in sig) I sent a sample to Blackstone Labs of nearly 10k motorcraft oil + filter, and still had plenty of life left.

Edit: Found it. https://www.taurusclub.com/forum/134-...ml#post2823226

I've changed the oil every 10,000 miles in my Duratec with Amsoil 5/20 100 percent synthetic. 307,000 miles as of today. No engine issues to date.

Valvoline Full Synthetic every 6k miles. I do a lot of city driving. Just use whatever higher-grade filter is on sale that isn't Fram. Engine is meh but it wasn't treated well by the previous owner. I think a lot of oil changes were neglected, along with many other things.

My GM cars that I have used Valvoline Synthetic in tends to burn oil. But when I use Mobil 1, it doesnt. So I have stayed with Mobil 1 since. Burnt oil = Sludge.

I try to not use Royal Purple. Love the product, but it is designed to not use, or have any, detergents in the oil. For our higher mileage motors, detergents keep the sludge at bay.

Noted. Royal Purple is too pricey for me anyway. Mobil 1's about the same price as the Valvoline, I'll give it a shot.

I have been using Mobil 1 in every car I have owned since M1 came out circa 1978. Zero oil related failures of any kind, and that includes zero front / rear main seal leaks. Motorcraft or NAPA Gold filters only (NAPA Gold manufactured by Wix labs). Never kept track, but that is probably 1.5 million+ miles of driving. Rust or accidents (accidents never my fault ) took all of the cars, not major mechanical failures.

Change oil 1x/yr. Walmart's SuperTech Full Synthetic, High Milage. 10w-30 in 2000 Sable Wgn 118k, & 2001 Subaru Legacy 160k, and 5w-30 in 2004 Saab 9-3 175k. And WIX oil filters for synthetic oil.
