Parts Needed

-Cooler
-3/8inch transmission line, at least 7 feet (just to be safe)

-Hose Clamps (6)

Step 1: Remove Grill, dust shield/air dam and the thing under the grill held on with 2 bolts

Step 2: Identify what line goes back to the transmission return line from the radiator, and cut.

On mine, it was the one on the top of the transmission, so trace it back along the bottom of the radiator. Mine was the one to the front of the car.

The elbow for the line to the transmission from the radiator is the line you will be installing it in. Cut the line half way in the elbow.

  • Note: When you cut it, a little transmission fluid will come out. This is the part where you put your hand in a towel and walk up to a female member of your household!

Step 3: Install lines on cooler. Connect 2 pieces of tubing that are longer than necessary to each of the ports on the cooler. Route them around the left side of the radiator assembly. Cut them to length, and connect them to your original lines so that the fluid from the radiator goes to the top of the cooler and the bottom of the cooler connects in the line that goes to the transmission.

Step 4: To mount the cooler, we used cable ties. We made sure that they weren't going to melt with the temperature and are pretty sure that they won't. We mounted on top to where the grill sits and on bottom, the line for the power steering. Also, be sure to smoothen out the top edge with a Dremel so the sharp edge won't cut the ties.

Mount them with 2 cable ties on each corner to the top and bottom.

After this you might want to put around 3/4 quart of fluid in to fill it up and let the car idle
for around 15 minutes to let the air bubble get out and check for leaks. Before putting the car
back together, drive it hard for a few miles to see if there are any fluid leaks.
