Gen II Vulcan Intake Silencer Removal
From Taurus Car Club Maintenance and Modification Wiki
To remove the intake silencer on your GII vulcan you only need 3 things,
- 1. A 8mm Socket or Wrench
- 2. Something to cut with aka.. Hack Saw or a power cutting blade
- 3. Electrical, Duct Tape or Mesh/Epoxy
First start by removing the Intake Silencer hold down bolt. You can find this on the left fender area of the Intake Silencer. It is 8mm.
Then release the intake tube and silencer from the Air Box. By sliding the intake box forward to relase the intake tube.
Next you saw the tube free from the silencer (careful not to saw the intake tube!!)
You can file any sharp edges and either use tape (electrical/duct) or mesh held on by a good two part Epoxy. (I choose to go the mesh/epoxy route, by first epoxying the mesh down, then using the epoxy to cover the mesh to form a hard surface like the tube itself) to close the hole where the silencer was attached.
You then replace the Intake Silencer in the same manner that you removed it. But be careful not push the Air Box to hard, as the tab on the Intake side, can be weak due to age and snap off. (another good reason to have epoxy on hand..lol)
That is all there is to it!! Enjoy the extra noise coming from under your hood!!
