Wow what a debate over the cat. It is sure that the cat have prove their sell over the years about reduce gas, and maybe mooby got some new point to the subject!. But the fact is that you want a car that go fast you have no choice to remove that "stopping performance part".......but on old car! the new one need the cat dry.gif.......Believe me i know a lot of person with civic and eagle talon (mistsubishi eclipse) and they all run like low 12, high 11.....and i never see one of this car with a catalityc converter........we even remove all the exausht when we go to drag!...........(sure that later i will buy a daily driver and i will keep the cat)

so i'm also removing my cat on my SHO, sorry mufflerman sad.gif i'll let the toyota echo do is job about the cat and global warning....anyway look at the name they give to this car , they put it on the planet for that purpose!!!! laugh.gif

The SHO Shop a few years ago took a stock SHO, performed a 60K and compression test on it. Then they added their y-pipe with cats and ran the car on the dynojet. Next they swapped the y-pipe with one without the cats. Ran the car on the dynojet. The car without the cats lost 10lbs of tq all across the rpm range over the dyno run with the cats. Maybe removing cats on the force induction SHO (turbo or Supercharger) might gain some power, but I know of several SuperSHO's that still run cats on a SS Y-pipe and still have over 400hp. Many people who install y-pipes without the cats are also disappointed with the rasp that you get when you remove the cats. Even after all this many choose to remove the cats anyway. If you can try to run back to back on a dynojet and see if you do gain performance. Comparing your SHO to a 12 or 11 sec car is like comparing apples to oranges.

Right now CATs are so well designed that you are maybe loosing 5-7Hp maximum even with stocks and probably around 3-5Hp with a high-flow cat. Keep your CATs, the feds, and keep our lungs happy. smile.gif

JedHeads right. Especially with a turbo (don't know about supers), without CATs the turbo will spool up faster whereas with CATs the turbo has to push against the CATs which will lengthen spool time and lower maximum turbine speed. Longer spool time means boost comes on later and lower max turbine speed means less maximum boost. In reality though on the street, the frequency of you hitting max boost compared to typical driving will be rarely (ok, for most laugh.gif). But on the track that's another story where it's max boost all the way and anything less is 2nd place.

Also, as far the KYBs go, anyone know where the cheapest it would be to get new suspension bushings and strut mounts, and possibly a tie rod or spring insulator/support?

Every once in awhile, they do something nice...

nice i might be working like 70 hours a week in a couple days so ill be making lots of money and im gonna try an buy the wagon
if this happens i might be cutting the cats off too.... unsure.gif and modifying the y-pipe so that it flows better, might keep the cats though, ill see
btw mufflerman, i might be doing that myself with a custom cat back....wanted to do true duals from the front but i took a look under the car and it seems really complicated to squeeze em in so ill probably start from the y-pipe with 2 1/2" or 2 1/4" and split into 2" or 2 1/4"duals (thinkin of not having mufflers... icon_rolleyes.gif just aftermarket resonator and resonator tips)

now getting to the point, since theres gonna be a eastern canada meet in ottawa, if i dont have the exhaust done by then mind giving me a hand??
oh and one more thing, u got a machine shop??? wanna get roller rockers in a couple months if everything works out and a head planning so i was wondering if you can help me out with that (probably gonna do some port and polish too if i do all of that)
Cliff
What to possably do to my '94 GL Vulcan, a wish list i'd say:

1. Performance: Somewhat rebuild engine and tranny while port/polish the heads, manifolds, whatever ported/polished. Then get an Flowmaster Delta 50 SI/SO with a dual polished tip and a custom burned Bamachip. She may not be much faster but at least open up more at the point where it won't dog out. Should expect around 15-20 gain from all this HAHA!!!

2. Suspension: New struts, springs, 24/26 swaybar combo with better endlinks, better brakes but they do fine for now.

3. Wheels: I like those 2003-04 Mustang V6 chrome-plated wheels but dunno.

4. Audio: Amp my speakers and the sub.

5. Redo the interior somewhat like the ceiling.

These are possable unless trading her in.
