I have a 2004 Ford Taurus SE and I believe my cooling fans are not turning ON. When the car was driven and was up to temp I pulled over with the key ON and notice the cooling fans were not ON. Should they be engaged all the time or only certain times? I have not notice any over heating issue but wondering how I can tell if they are working?
Easy: start the car and turn the A/C on 'max'. Now go out in front and raise the hood. Both fans should be running on low speed. If the A/C is working and the fans are not on, you will have an "over pressure" which will dis-engage the clutch or the safety valve will pop off.
Of course, fan operations is VISUAL, no fingers needed. :lol2:
I had one too and it was a pain. No fan for A/C and it over pressured and popped off gas. Engine was not hot enough to go to high speed. But that was '88 and the resistor was a high fail rate due to location.
