Blueox has a little shameless behaviour in the past
Default AX4N vs. 4F50N

Is there a difference? Do they use the same CV axle assemblies? Rock Auto and O'Reilly's only show the 4F50N.

They are identical to my knowledge. Just a renamed version of the AX4N. Should not be any different.

Correct. Just renamed for 2004. Not sure why but I'm sure Ford had some reason/logic behind that.

Notice how Ford started to do a lot of weird things in 04'. Like they began to make all of their car models start with a "F". Ford has done some odd things over time....

4F50N = 4 speed, Front wheel drive, 500 Newton meters torque capacity, Non synchronous. Kind of like GM names their trannies: Like the 4T65E in my Grand Prix GT = 4 speed, Transverse mount (FWD) 650 Nm torque capacity, Electronically controlled.

Jeff, what does AX4N stand for then since you explained 4F50N.

The 4 is for four speed, the N is for non synchronous, but what about the A and the X? There is no explanation of the torque capacity.
