I tried to open it with my wife's PC, which has Office. I got an error saying the file is corrupt. Were you able to open it?

Yes. Try re-downloading it.

We've decided it's time to bring the Taurus back to life as a backup car. I don't have the time to do it, so we're going to get a few estimates on a repair from local shops. I'll keep you posted. I'm also curious what went wrong.

So far I've got a quote for $495 to tow, remove, disassemble, and reinstall. Parts/labor for actual problem extra. They are willing to just replace what is needed, as most wear items are fairly new. Doesn't sound too bad.

Wow. That's dirt cheap. I can't even get the trans removed and reinstalled for under 700. And that would be just removing/reinstalling only.

I thought it was a good price too. I've got another shop recommendation, which I'll contact on Wednesday.

The second shop will only do a full rebuild-$1800. Therefore, I'll give the first place a try.

I got another recommendation for the first shop, so it's getting picked up at 09:00 this morning. Fingers crossed.

The shop called-it's an internal problem. I knew that already. I'll have the diagnosis tomorrow.
