trust me folks, you dont want everyone carrying a gun, numerus military studies have shown that when shooting starts, EVERYONE with a gun starts shooting; in a civilian situitation lots of innocent folks will get killed. A robbery almost always is just a robbery, enforced by a fire arm. , but when a armed robber is challenged that is when folks get killed.
now the question to ask yoursef; is my pride worth possibly losing my life or getting someone else killed? The real answer for blue collar ECONOMIC crime has always been the same , eliminate poverty. First and foremost I believe in the our right to bear arms.....PRACTICED legally within the State, federal, county and city laws. "Hope I didn't miss anything". I was going to mention why most folks carrying is a bad idea but its easier to say "watch the video than write 5 web pages explaining why. The web is full of video footage where the so called "hero" barely missed decapitating the baby in the line of fire or the very close to the"backstop" while wildly firing at the fleeing criminal. If I can quote a high ranking police Lt., "most cops can't shoot and most armed guards can't hit the broad side of a barn". [These are people who carry their service weapon as part of ther job duties and have had extensive training in law and have a through sober understanding of the liabilities involved when the weapon is unholstered.]. Now what about American Joe with the $25 for the CCW card and $30 for the FOID card.....Who has watched one Clint Eastwood movie too many and thinks he's Dirty Harry. With the studies...even if your the marksman champion if you don't have the Crisis training you put yourself and others in danger. Regular target practice is helpful but only goes so far. Anyway, forget what I say and watch the video and you be the judge.

when I said I would need 5 pages I meant single spaced. A bit of raw I unadultered truth is free. Waking up the ignorant is 2 cents. But talking the untrained avg Joe from carrying and keeping the innocent children out of HIS line of fire of that self assured avg Joe who knows it alls is priceless. Most folks don't even know what they don't know. A little education goes a long way or shall I say seeing for yourself is believing. Also for those with preteens who don't lock up their guns but hide them in the bedroom: under the bed or hidden up ridiculously high and in the back of the closet. Did you ever see the commercial 15-20 years ago of the 9 year old stacking junk on a chair to reach it and the kid got the gun box. Most folks don't think the kids or grandkids will find the gun while they are preoccupied and they are wrong. This is me stepping down from soap box.

All that's fine and dandy, but there are MANY different scenarios where drawing a weapon may be necessary. Not all shootings occur within 20 yards of a crowd of people. Many occur in the next room, several aisles over in a store, while in a vehicle, etc. In scenarios like that video depicts, it's true that it would not be a winning proposition, but many of us don't hang out in rather open classrooms.

I don't carry a gun to protect you, or anyone else (except my wife, and she even has her own), I carry it to protect myself. If you think the police carry guns to protect YOU, you are mistaken. They have firearms to protect themselves while enforcing the law.

I would much rather have some chance of defending myself than be a defenseless victim.

As I said I am PRO-GUN as long as the constitutional right is practiced within the confines of the law and you are correct about Law enforcement. I just believe we should also exercise alot of common sense and have ALOT of training and lots of range practice that's all. For instance if a person at the range and at 25' if they can put 90% of your rounds through the head or the "box" on the body of your paper target [thats standing still and NOT firing at you] then they should be allowed to carry and if a person should ever not be able to do that then they should leave the gun locked in the safe. Yes the right to carry is an awesome right & [responsibility] that shouldn't be taken lightly. It's a great thing but for those who carry please go to the range often and if crisis training is available take the class and continue with the regular range practice. Lock and hide the gun at home so the curious pre-teen wont find it and play cops and robbers.
