Thats the only way they can sell all those cars, offer them for $1. A couple years ago, a friend wanted me to go with them for a Kia deal that was the same thing, buy one, get one for $1.
You will pay 100% list price on a fully LOADED sonata (every imaginable option even if you never heard of it before), no discounts, no rebates, no deals of any kind, you even pay tax on the full list price. You do get the second car, the elantra, for $1.00, but you end up paying taxes on the full list price of the $1.00 car also, since the state wants their cut also and they know the value of the car. You also pay full dealer, transportation and any other fee they can think of to toss in some extra cash for them.
If you watch sales, you can buy both cars seperatly for less than the buy one get one for $1 deal.
